1st assignment: Observe a vegetable and write out a descriptive essay

                 Upon completing this essay, I have learned to enhance my observation skills by observing closely onto the vegetable I have picked, which is a Japanese mushroom. Throughout my observation process on the mushroom, I have applied the five sensory receptors, which includes vision, smell, sound, touch and taste. With every recorded detail I did with using each sensory receptors, I wrote down the event and happenings I have done during the essay process. I even wrote the details into mind-map form. After that, all I have to do is to imagine of anything that I could possibly think of relating to the mushroom in order to make the essay to look more interesting. Overall, this assignment was pretty weird for me as this is my first time doing this sort of work which actually needs much brainstorming session.


2nd assignment: Compare and Contrast Essay

Historical or Musical genre?

                        

               Both of the movies above are the historical genre shows that I have picked as my essay topics. 

            Basically, this assignment requires us to understand what is the true meaning of historical genre. We were to assigned to watch two historical movies in order to do either a comparison or contrast essay. Thus, I have wrote down the important events that was happening in the movies, the history of the story, the culture, the lifestyles and etc. From there, I could learn about histories that occur in other countries over the centuries as well. The movies that I have watched weren't boring at all, which I expected them to be the typical boring historical movies. It is an interesting essay to write on as this is my first time writing an essay based on movies.


3rd assignment: Debate

          This was one of my favorite task among all. My debate topic is about Malaysia services have so much to be offered. My group's aim were to against the topic, which we will have to talk most of the bad issues about the services in Malaysia. It was quite a challenge during the debate session in class. The feedback we have received from the lecturer was we lack eye contact, low voice presentation and a little of mumble. But overall, it was still satisfying.


4th assignment: Research Essay

Aim: To write out a research essay about three businesses in the same market field.

         We have chosen to interview businesses in the food business field. Among the three business would be, 'Who's Bryan Coffee & Cuisine', 'Italiannies' and 'Chillis'. We went one of their branches at certain location for all three businesses respectively to have an interview with the business manager. We basically touched on the background of the business, the employees needed, products offered and a little details on the future development plans.

Class Test

            The first thing I wanted to say about this test was failure. I did very bad in my test as it was a tough paper for me. But unfortunately, I have no one to blame as I am the one who didn't put in effort to revise for exam. And shamefully, I had to admit that I have taken this subject lightly and did procrastinated many times. But a extra assignment was given by the lecturer in order for us to gain marks from it, so we could at least cover up the marks from the exam, which is a big help to maintain our grade. Therefore, I am not going to let this chance slip away by paying more attention onto the extra assignment.


Individual Essay

          I have selected question number 3 as below:
  
          3. Families are group characterized by ongoing interdependence with long-term commitment that stem from blood, law and affection. While this is true, families often go through conflict when the children are in their adolescent years. Explain how conflicts at this stage can be resolved and illustrate your ideas with some possible examples and scenarios. 

Reflections: 

        Upon completing this essay, I have realized and learned much about family relationships and how conflicts can occur. Everyone knows that family comes first, whereby relationships are the closest among all people. But where there are relationships, there are sure to be conflicts as well no matter how perfect the relationship is. Conflicts are born from disagreements in opinions and misunderstandings between people. In regular families, children at teenage years are tend to be more rebellious, thus sometimes they will attempt to ignore or rebel their parents' decisions. And from there, both parties will start to quarrel and show aggression. If this prolongs, the conflict will be getting worse, it will deepen our hatred in our hearts. Hence, I had applied various concepts from the chapter Conflict and Negotiation in order to come up with ways to resolve these problems. And from this assignment, I have personally gain knowledge too regarding this matter, in case this happens to me in reality. 


Group Assignment: Script Writing

           Basically, this is a group assignment, whom my group members will be Cheah Ee Von, Gennieve, Mercy, Sheila and me. We were assigned to come out with a script in dialogue form to write on a story based on the given chapter to our group, which is Verbal Messages. We were required to apply the concepts in that chapter to relate on the story we work on. The story we have thought about was a romance story. 
          
           As I was the group leader, we have discussed on the story and we wrote a draft of it. Later on, I have divided jobs to each of the group member to work on the scripts on their given part. We did some discussions too via Facebook as well. And finally when everyone has done their part, I compiled all their works and mine, I did a little correction of their scripts in order to match the whole story dialogue and printed out the whole report. On the presentation day, I call up a last meeting on how are we suppose to present to our lecturer. And everything turned out to be just fine.

Introduction to Business 

Reflection Essay

                  First of all, I personally have always been interested in starting my own business one day. Thus, upon completing the whole semester 2 of taking Introduction to Business class was very interesting. What I have learned from this subject was the what type of business are there in the society which includes franchise or partnership and the types of product or services that could be offered along by applying various strategies to attract customers. Above all, the main target of running a business is to gain profits.

1st assignment given was: Develop a business plan

                This is a group assignment where I have teamed up with Edwin Ngo, Ian See and Amy Wong to work on it together. We were assigned to develop a business plan, by starting on what kind of product or services to sell to the customers. Therefore, our team have came up with an idea of selling a product just for smokers, which is a special toothbrush which will help getting rid of the grey stains at the teeth and gums. We named our product "Alie". Besides that, we were tested on our promoting skills too during our class presentation. Each of us will have to speak out about our product on how we promote the toothpaste in a way which customers can be attracted easily. It is not easy to do so as we have to put in effort to convince customers that our product is trustworthy and beneficial. 

Final Assignment: Charity Drive week

              For the last assignment which carries the highest marks, we were assigned to start a business with my group members for a week. We need to open a stall to sell our products. Our target is to reach the profit of RM 2000 in a week. Therefore, we have approached suppliers and sponsors, also asking for donations.

The product above are all transported from Malacca. All of them are hand made products, key chains and holders are all made of wood, not factory manufactured.

We got sponsors for the cookies from suppliers which actually helps a lot in reaching our targeted profit, RM 2000.

The business throughout the whole week wasn't what we have expected. There were ups and downs in terms of customers between days. We even reduced some of the product's prices due to the insufficient customers' demand.

It was a wonderful experience to actually open a business ourselves in life, it was a challenge to us as we are only beginners. But we are not totally regret as we have gained much of business knowledge an experience.

Basic Accounting

My reflections towards Basic Accounting

                First of all, all I wanted to say was throughout the whole semester 2 of learning Basic Accouting, what I knew was accounts are very stiff and it is not flexible in any way, every single detail are fixed. To me, taking Basic Accouting class is just another retake subject as I have taken this subject too in high school, the only difference is the language used. My favorite topic among all would be the Profit & Loss statement. Because I like to determine whether a certain business will be achieving a loss or a profit by accumulating all the revenues and expenses and do a calculation to find out the outcome. It is fun to know how much a business has contributed on the business and how much on their expenses too. 

The assignment that we did was: Accounting Report

Objective of this assignment

Basically this is a group assignment where our aim is to analyze this worldwide company's accounting report, and also to evaluate their business performance. After that, we are to provide reasons to whether the company is suitable for investing.

                 Firstly, I have teamed up with Ian See Tze Onn to conduct this assignment. Both of us have came to an agreement to select this company for our assignment because Dell is a worldwide known company. The first step of doing this assignment was to do a little research on the company's background, where it all started from. After that, we went through several websites to search for their Profit & Loss statement and the Balance Sheet. We divided our duties to complete this work. My part was to work on the ratio calculation and interpretation of their business. At the meantime, we have encountered a problem due to the insufficient details given from their company's accounting report. But we still managed to pull it through. Besides that, we gave reasons and suggestions on why Dell company is a considerable business to invest on. Finally, both of us compiled our work into a report. This was a good opportunity to catch a glimpse on how a major company runs their business, acknowledge on the profit earned annually and the expenses used.

Principles of Economics


                    Throughout the whole second semester of taking Principle of Economics subject, I have basically learned more about the fundamental issues on how the economy world works. Economy is all about money and cash flow in the any market field, on how individuals make decisions to use and allocate scarce resources. After going through all the chapters, my favorite chapter would be Price Theory-Demand. Because I get to understand about how the demand of a certain product was affected by various factors. And with the quantity of demands given will decide how the business will go. I will apply this topic as to be the most applicable to my everyday life. For example, if I were to open a business in the future, I would apply the topic Price Theory-Demand. Hence, I will be able to adapt the with market changes and to know what steps to apply when there are various factors which will reduce the customers' demand on my product.

We have decided to pick this business and we did the interview at one of the branch at Paradigm Mall.

Thus, the two businesses from above are the ones we picked to make a comparison regarding on their business into a report.

Mathematics (MATH 0103)

         Here is a short introduction of the mathematics assignment. This assignment is all about applying the mathematics formulas needed according to the relevant chapters in order to be able to construct a paper-model. By applying those formulas and work out a correct answer, the model will be constructed in a perfect posture and position without any mistakes.

I was in charged of sorting out the volume of the whole model, which has been done in three separate parts, which includes the inner pyramid, the two combined cylinders and the two combined outer ring.

Based on the above answer, I have applied the formula below, which is the 

formula of the pyramid volume. 

1st part: Pyramid

 Firstly, I separated the pyramid into two smaller pyramids in order to find the volume of the inner prism in the model. Thus, I have applied the formula of volume of pyramid to find both the volume of big and small pyramids. After that, all I have to do is just to get the volume of the bigger pyramid to deduct the smaller pyramid, therefore I will get the volume of the inner prism, which will be the shaded region according to the above result.

2nd part: Cylinder 

Second, what I did to find the total volume of the two combined cylinders is to get the oval shaded region in between of the cylinders. By doing that, I applied the formula of area of segment to get the volume of the center shaded region. After that, I applied the formula of volume of cylinder and multiply the answer by 2 to get the volume of two cylinders. Lastly, in order to get the total volume of the two combined cylinders, all I have to do is just take the volume of two cylinders and deduct the volume of the shaded region and I will obtain the answer. 

3rd part: Outer ring

Finally, in order to obtain the volume of the outer ring, I have applied the formula of area of shaded region, and then multiply it with the height. With that, I would obtain the answer. 

Upon completing my part of finding the volume of the whole model, and applied the formula to construct it, and it was a success along with the collaboration from my teammates.
